Viral Video: Odisha doctor caught sleeping on duty

Dhenkanal: A video of a doctor napping during duty hours at a government hospital in Dhenkanal district reportedly under the influence of booze has gone viral.
The doctor, named as Abanikant Sahu, can be seen sleeping on his chair in his chamber at Community Health Centre (CHC) in Sriramchandrapur in Gondia block during night duty. A security guard raced to the room to rouse him up as the patients went on consultation. One of his coworkers interfered when he did not react to the guard.
A patient attendant apparently filmed the footage on a Wednesday, which was going through the social media rounds.
Sujatarani Mishra, the Chief Medical Officer of the District (CDMO), stated that she seen the video and that action will follow a review. "I haven't been privy to events while I was on leave. An investigation has been ordered and measures will be made in accordance with the norms of medical care," she stated.
She said that there would be a warning to stop physicians coming to the hospital using alcohol.
