BSF conducts flag march in Pipli

Puri: A contingent of BSF men arrived in Pipili ten days before the seat byelections on September 30 and marched through the streets with flags to ensure free and fair elections.

Six platoons of BSF men and five senior officials began the flag march from Pipili Police Station in the morning, following the instruction of Puri Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh, and travelled around the market area under the jurisdiction of the notified area council (NAC).

Among those who took part in the flag march were Additional SP Prafulla Chandra Badajena, Sadar Sub-divisional police officer Debadutta Baral, and IIC of Pipili Police Station Abhimanyu Nayak.

According to Singh, BSF troops who had received two doses of vaccines had been sent for poll duty in accordance with COVID policy.

He added any breach of the model code of behaviour would be taken seriously by the administration, which is fully prepared to conduct the bypoll in a free and fair way.

The death of legislator Pradeep Maharathy (BJD) earlier this year forced the byelections. Following the death of a Congress nominee, the Election Commission delayed the election.
