Writer Gayatribala Panda conferred with Kendra Sahitya Ekademi Award 2022
Bhubaneswar: Dr Gayatribala Panda, a well-known Odia litterateur, has been nominated for the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for 2022.
The Kendra Sahitya Akademi announced its annual prizes in 23 languages on Thursday. Seven books of poetry, six novels, two short stories, three plays/dramas, two literary evaluations, one each of autobiographical essays, collection of articles, and literary history have received honors.
According to the formal protocols, the litterateurs were chosen for the ward based on suggestions given by a jury panel of three persons fluent in the languages involved.
Dr Panda was chosen in the Poetry category for her poem collection 'Dayanadi,' which was released in 2017 by Pakshighar Prakashani. The story of 'Dayanadi' is based on the Kalinga War. It includes 64 poetry.
The award includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a shawl, and a citation (engraved copper plaque). Dr. Panada will receive the prize at a later date at a special ceremony.
She previously won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award for her poem collection 'Gaan' in the youth writer category in 2011.
Dr. Panda has so far written 25 books of short tales, novels, and articles. In Odia, there are 12 collections of poems, two collections of stories, two novels, and one collection of essays.
She also has five books of poems in Hindi, as well as two collections of poems and one collection of stories in English. She is a well-known writer who has contributed to newspaper articles during the course of her three-decade writing career.
