Yashodhara Mishra, Odisha writer, received the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award

Bhubaneswar: Yashodhara Mishra, a well-known Odia writer, will be honoured with the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award -2020 for her work "Samudrakula Ghara," which was published in 2016.

On Tuesday, Kendra Sahitya Akademi president Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar announced the honorees' names. A casket with an etched copper plaque and a cheque for Rs 1 lakh are included in the prize.

The panel, which included Dr Binapani Mohanty, Dr Pratibha Satpathy, and Ramakanta Rath, chose the book ‘Samudrakula Ghara' based on their suggestions.

Mishra is the author of nearly 15 collections of short stories, novels, and poems, as well as other works that have been translated.

She has previously received awards from the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, Katha Award, Odisha Book Fair Award, and Gangadhar Rath Foundation Puraskar (for short tales).

Mishra was a visiting fellow at the Maison de Science in Paris and an English professor.
