Nuapada: In an altercation between two groups over a minor problem near Khariar in Odisha's Nuapada district, reports indicated that one kid was killed on Wednesday and three others suffered critical injuries.
According to sources, a fight broke out between two groups on Tuesday night at Putupada village, which is under the control of Khariar police station, after a verbal brawl.
When two groups of people started fighting, they fought and attacked each other with sticks and sharp objects, inflicting injuries on a number of people.
The injured were sent to a neighbouring hospital, where medical staff pronounced dead one of the injured victims. According to sources, the deceased has been named Prabha Sabar.
While some of the injured people were released after receiving first assistance, three locals were said to be in a severe condition.
After being alerted, a team of police officers hastened to the scene and took action to avert any additional undesirable incident.
While the incident is being investigated, the precise cause of the altercation is still unknown.
