'Corrupt' Nabarangpur Addl. Sub-Collector arrested

Bhubaneswar: Prasanta Rout, additional sub-collector of Nabarangpur, was arrested on Saturday by the Odisha Vigilance for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees.
According to Vigilance Cell SP M Radhakrisna, who briefed the media, the tainted officer was found in possession of assets worth Rs.5,21,09,659, or 506% of his known sources of income. "During interrogation, he was unable to provide a satisfactory response regarding the source of the cash and other assets." He was then arrested and will be brought to court," he added.
He stated that further investigation into the Benami accounts through which he conducted transactions is underway.
