Bhubaneswar: On Monday, the mutilated bodies of a married couple were discovered on the railway tracks in Bhubaneswar's Bomikhal area.

The deceased, who was reportedly from the Kandarpur area of Cuttack district, lived in the Odisha capital's Sahntipalli slum. According to reports, the man was a wage laborer.

Some locals noticed the mutilated bodies lying on the tracks this morning. They reported the incident to the police.

Following notification, a team of Government Railway Police (GRP) officers went to the scene and recovered the bodies, which were then sent for autopsies. They have started an investigation into what happened.

While the cause of the incident has yet to be determined, it is believed that the two took the extreme step of ending their lives due to a family feud.

According to neighbors, the two had a heated exchange of words last night.

While locals suspected financial problems were behind the extreme action, police said an investigation is underway.
