Berhampur: On Tuesday night, former sarpanch Lalit Mohan Mohapatra was killed after allegedly being run over by a car in Khamari village, Digapahandi block, Ganjam district, Odisha.
Family members have filed a murder complaint with the K Nuagaon police station.
According to sources, Lalit got into a fight with a young man last night. He quickly left the area on his motorcycle. The youth, on the other hand, followed him in his car and allegedly ran over him between the village school and the Panchayat office. Lalita crashed his bike and suffered serious injuries. The young man then drove him to Digapahandi hospital and then fled.
However, the former sarapanch died in the hospital while receiving treatment.
