Bhubaneswar: Due to rising temperatures and the state-wide heatwave, the Odisha government announced the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centers for the next two days on Tuesday.

In a notification, the School and Mass Education department stated that all schools up to Class XII, including government, aided, and private, and Anganwadi centers, will remain closed on April 19 and 20 due to the state's current heatwave conditions.

Previously, the government had closed schools and Anganwadi centers for five days, from April 12 to April 16. Following the reopening of the schools, the government announced that morning classes would be held from 6 a.m. to 11 am.

On Tuesday, as many as ten locations in the state recorded day temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius or higher. According to IMD, 29 locations recorded temperatures of more than 40 degrees Celsius.
