Bhubaneswar: The Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express passed through Bahanaga Bazar Station in Odisha's Balasore district on restored tracks around 9.30 a.m. on Monday.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was present at the accident site and waved to the drivers as Odisha's first semi-high speed train passed through, according to officials.

Indian Railways has resumed train operations on the tracks damaged in the June 2 train accident in Odisha's Balasore, which involved the Chennai Coromandel Express and the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and killed 275 people and injured over 1,000 more.

On Sunday night, the restoration of both the up and down line tracks was completed. At around 10:40 p.m., a coal-laden goods train left Vizag port for the Rourkela Steel Plant.

Trains are moving slowly through the accident site, according to officials.

Due to the disruption of rail services caused by the Bahanaga train mishap, Odisha is also providing free bus services to people who want to travel to Kolkata. As of 11.30 p.m. on June 4, 20 buses from Puri, 23 buses from Bhubaneswar, and 16 buses from Cuttack had left for Kolkata.
