Malaysian Bharatnatyam Guru Sri Ganesan dies after collapsing on stage

Sri Ganesan, a renowned Bharatanatyam guru from Malaysia, collapsed and died on stage during an event in Odisha's capital on Friday evening. He was 60.

Bhubaneswar: Sri Ganesan, a renowned Bharatanatyam guru from Malaysia, collapsed and died on stage during an event in Odisha's capital on Friday evening. He was 60.

According to reports, Ganesan was in town for the three-day Jayadev Samaroha hosted by the National Cultural Mission. He collapsed while lighting the lamp after performing a piece based on Gita Govinda. He was rushed to Capital Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors.

Ganesan served as the president of the Malaysia Bharatanatyam Dance Association as well as the director of Sri Ganesalaya in Kuala Lumpur.
