Dhenkanal: On Saturday, a man allegedly killed his wife and performed ritualistic worship with her naked body inside a forest in Odisha's Dhenkanal district.
The heinous crime occurred in Ambapalas village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Parjang police station.
While the exact reason for the alleged murder has yet to be determined, it is believed that the accused, identified as Ashtam Khatua, killed his wife for 'tantra puja' on the occasion of Shivratri, according to sources.
The woman's body bore numerous injury marks. Khatua, on the other hand, denied murdering his wife and claimed she died of natural causes.
They claimed that the woman, who was previously married to another man and had three children, eloped with Khatua.
While Khatua was detained, a team of police officers rushed to the scene and began an investigation. The man is being questioned. More information is awaited.
