Bhubaneswar: Odisha's daily COVID caseload surpassed 400 on Friday, with 431 of 6,956 samples testing positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, while India saw a slight drop, with 11,692 new cases compared to 1,2591 the previous day.
For the second day in a row, the state's test positivity rate (TPR) was 6.1%. According to the state health department, Odisha now has 2,411 active cases with 197 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
"The infection is spreading in districts bordering Chhattisgarh." We're keeping a close eye out for people coming in from the outside. "This situation will last for a few days," said Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra after a tour of Nabarangpur and Malkangiri.
Following a downward trend in COVID cases, the state reported 387 and 377 new infections on Thursday and Wednesday, respectively. On Tuesday and Monday, the daily caseloads were 269 and 268 respectively.
During April 10-16, the weekly TPR was above 10% in three districts: Sonepur (15.5), Sundargarh (14.26), and Sambalpur (12.67). Odisha is one of the ten states contributing to the country's total.
This year, the state has confirmed three deaths caused by the virus.
