Odisha's daily COVID caseload surpassed 100, with 104 new infections detected in the last 24 hours, as the country added 6,050 cases, according to Health Ministry data released on Friday.
Bhubaneswar: Odisha's daily COVID caseload surpassed 100, with 104 new infections detected in the last 24 hours, as the country added 6,050 cases, according to Health Ministry data released on Friday.
The number of active cases in the state has reached 429, with 34 more patients cured.
Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has convened a review meeting with health ministers from all states and union territories this afternoon to assess readiness to address this troubling upward trend.
The Odisha government has already directed that contact tracing and testing be increased in districts where the disease is spreading to prevent further spread. The state reported 92 cases on Thursday and 68 on Wednesday, a day after the caseload more than doubled and the active tally surpassed 200 with 53 new infections. According to reports, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Khurda, and Sambalpur have the highest number of COVID cases.
Odisha has a test positivity rate of 1.4%, which is lower than the national average of 3.3%.
