Cuttack: The death toll from the horrific triple train crash in Odisha's Bahanaga Bazar station rose to 290 on Friday, when an injured passenger died while receiving treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, according to a family source.

Prakash Ram, a Bihar native, has been identified as the deceased. His death was confirmed by hospital officials.

According to sources, the victim was brought to the state-run hospital with severe head and leg injuries. His health was critical, and he died as a result of injuries sustained while receiving treatment.

This is the second death in a week as a result of the deadly train accident on June 2. Another Bihar resident died three days ago while receiving treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

On June 2, Prakash was critically injured in a three-way collision involving the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express from Shalimar, the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, and a stationary goods train. The previous death toll in the accident was 288.

However, no official confirmation of the increased death toll has been made as of yet.

According to the sources, several injured passengers are currently being treated at SCBMCH, with some of them being admitted to the ICU.
