Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has requested the Centre's intervention to halt operations at the Khandolite mining site near the Lalitgiri Buddhist Complex in Odisha's Jajpur district in order to protect the area's archaeological assets and natural ecology.
Dharmendra urged Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy in a letter to take immediate action to halt the destructive mining activity at the Khandolite mining site in Parabadhi, Sukhuapada village, near the Buddbist complex.
The Union Education and Skill Development Minister stated that the area's mining operations must be halted in order to save the Sukhuapada site from further destruction and to protect the area's archaeological assets and natural ecology.
The senior BJP leader also requested Reddy's personal intervention in halting large-scale mining and earthmoving activities at Sisupalgarh in the state's Khurda district.
"Sisupalgarh is a historically significant site. "Immediate action is required to protect and conserve our invaluable heritage," Dharmendra stated.
The BJP leader also asked the Union Minister to direct the Odisha government to take immediate action against vandals and to halt earthmoving, illegal excavations, and mining on the ramparts of Sisupalgarh's protected areas.
