Cuttack: A female sub-inspector working at Banki police station in the Cuttack district of Odisha suffered critical wounds while attempting to subdue a former serviceman brandishing a sword on the grounds of Similipur school.

Madhusmita Behera has been recognized as the officer. She is now a patient at Banki's Community Health Center (CHC).

A SBI ATM at Banki College was vandalized three days ago by former Army soldier Saroj Das as he was unable to withdraw cash since his account's deposit had already been used to pay a vehicle loan installment.

He apparently lost business, which caused him to lose his composure. He later used a sword to terrorize the residents in Kacheri Chhak. Then, as Das' sword struck his lathi, cutting it into pieces, SI Susant Kumar Sarangi had a near shave.

Then Das left the area. The Banki police had filed a report against him, and they were working to find him.

With the money from his retirement benefits, Harirajpur-born Das, 34, purchased dumper trucks for his business. However, one of his trucks was seized by a tehsildar. According to accounts, he also suffered losses in his business as a result of police harassment in the area.
