Bhubaneswar: Superintending Engineer Pramod Kumar Bindhani of the Paradip Port in Odisha has been fired for allegedly obtaining employment by providing a fictitious caste certificate.

According to official sources, the action was taken by the Paradip Port Authority in accordance with the State Level Screening Committee's (SLSC) direction based on the results of the investigation into the caste certificate that Bindhani produced in order to be hired.

In order to obtain the position of Assistant Engineer at the Paradip Port, Bindhani is said to have filed a fictitious caste certificate. Later, in 2002 and 2007, he was elevated to the positions of Executive Engineer and Superintending Engineer.

It should be mentioned that the Paradip Port authorities were instructed by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to investigate the validity of Bindhani's certificate in 2021. Due to a High Court injunction, the case was still pending before the SLSC.

The SLSC ultimately issued instructions for dismissing Bindhani from service after having the incident probed by various entities. The Paradip Port authorities dismissed him from duty in accordance with this directive.
