Bhubaneswar: People across the country are wishing for the success of Chandrayaan-3, which is set to land on the lunar south pole today, 40 days after its launch. Sudarsan Pattnaik, an acclaimed Odisha sand artist, also chimed in to wish Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) success with his latest work.

In the video shared by news agency ANI on X, Pattnaik in his sand art has shown Chandrayaan-3 making a successful landing on Moon’s south pole with an Indian flag placed there. “All the best Chandrayaan” is also written on the base of the art, while at the top left one can see “Jay Ho Isro” written.

Meanwhile, ISRO on Tuesday said the Chandrayaan 3 mission was on schedule and shared images of the Moon captured by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) from an altitude of about 70 km.

“The mission is on schedule. Systems are undergoing regular checks. Smooth sailing is continuing,” said ISRO in a tweet.

It is set to land on the lunar south pole on August 23 at 6:04 p.m. IST, marking a watershed moment in Indian history.

Chandrayaan-3's goals are to conduct in-situ experiments on lunar soil and water, as well as to demonstrate technologies that can be used for future crewed missions to the Moon and Mars.

The Chandrayaan-3 is expected to stay on the lunar surface for one lunar day, or 14 Earth days.

ISRO's YouTube channel, official website, and Facebook account will be live streaming the event, which begins at 5:20 p.m. IST. The event will also be broadcast live on DD National.
