Puri: On Tuesday, several people, including women, were reportedly injured while pulling Lord Balabhadra's Taladhwaja chariot at Marichikote Chhak in Odisha's Puri.
They were taken to the Puri district headquarters hospital.
According to sources, a woman devotee collapsed amid the chaos and hot weather, resulting in a stampede-like situation while the chariot was being pulled. However, security personnel quickly brought the situation under control. Some of the injured were treated at the first-aid stations set up on Bada Danda.
Notably, Lord Balabhadra led the procession riding Taladhwaja at 3.04 pm, amid chants of "Jai Jagannath," "Hari Bol," and the clanging of cymbals at the pilgrim town. Around 3.55 p.m., Goddess Subhadra's Darpadalana was drawn towards the Gundicha Temple, about 3 km away from Srimandir, followed by Lord Jagannath's Nandighosha at 4.40 p.m., as the Lords began their nine-day annual sojourn.
