Nayagarh: A student has gone missing after allegedly being denied permission to take the annual HSC exam, which began on Friday across Odisha, for not wearing uniform.
Pradip Nayak of Radhamadhab Nodal High School in Daspalla, Nayagarh district, has been identified as the student. Dasapalla High School was his designated location.
His family members filed a complaint at the Daspalla police station after he failed to return home. "Pardip was told by a teacher, Rajalaxmi Mohaptra, that he wouldn't be allowed to take the exam because he wasn't in uniform," Deepali Nayak, Pardip's mother, told the media.
He left the house at 7 a.m., according to sources, wearing a white shirt and black jeans. The family claimed that because they were poor, they were unable to purchase the uniform.
Dasapalla BEO Raj Kishore Maharana denied receiving any such report from any school under his jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, police launched an investigation into the complaint and searched his home in Patna Sahi at Khrushnachandrapur, as well as the school campus.
Locals later discovered him sitting under a tree near Bhutapalli and alerted his parents.
