On Monday, two women were killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in the Bantala area of Odisha's Angul district.

Angul: On Monday, two women were killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in the Bantala area of Odisha's Angul district.

According to sources, the incident occurred in Badakantakula village when the two victims, Muni Pradhan and Gouri Roul, went to a nearby mango orchard to collect the fruits.

When they were picking up mangoes, a wild elephent appeared from a nearby forest and attacked them.

Muni was trampled to death on the spot, but Gouri was critically injured in the attack. She was admitted to Angul's district headquarters hospital (DHH), where she died while receiving treatment.

It should be noted that in the last four months, approximately ten people have been killed by elephants in the Bantala area.
