Ganjam: A woman allegedly attempted suicide after throwing her three children into a well in a village in Odisha's Ganjam district's Aska area.
The incident was reported from the village of Lauguada, where the woman threw her two daughters and a son into a well late on Sunday night before jumping into it. She took the drastic step while the rest of the family was fast asleep.
According to preliminary reports, the woman and her elder daughter were rescued by locals who launched a search and rescue operation after hearing noises from the site.
Two other children, including the minor son, were unable to be saved, and their bodies were later recovered by Fire Services personnel.
While the exact reason for the woman's extreme action has yet to be determined, the incident was suspected to have been triggered by a family dispute.
