In the early hours of Wednesday, a truck rammed into a wedding procession near National Highway-20 in Odisha's Keonjhar district, killing five people. The accident left nine people critically injured.

Among those killed were the groom's nephew and two others from Sathighar Sahi.
According to sources, it was the wedding procession of Hemanta Patra, the son of Hadibandhu Patra from Manpur village in the Harichandanpur block, and the tragedy struck when the baraatis, dancing to DJ music, were only a few meters away from the bride's house, daughter of Kartik Patra, a Sathighar Sahi resident.
Five people were killed on the spot, and nine others were seriously injured. Firefighters rushed to the scene and transported the injured to the district headquarters hospital.
The incident created tension and grief in the surrounding community.
