Bahuda Yatra 2023: Pahandi rituals of holy trinity begins in Puri

Lord Jagannath and His siblings were escorted to their respective chariots from Gundicha Temple in a ceremonial Dhadi Pahandi for the return journey (Bahuda Yatra) to their abode Srimandir in the pilgrim town of Puri in Odisha.

Puri: On Wednesday, Lord Jagannath and His siblings were escorted to their respective chariots from Gundicha Temple in a ceremonial Dhadi Pahandi for the return journey (Bahuda Yatra) to their abode Srimandir in the pilgrim town of Puri in Odisha.

Mangala Arati was scheduled to begin at 4 a.m., followed by Mailam at 4.15 a.m., Tadapalagi at 4.30 a.m., Abakash at 5, Surya Puja at 5.15 a.m., Dwarapala Puja at 5.30 a.m., Gopala Ballabha, Sakala Dhupa, and prasad between 5.45 and 6.45, Senapatalagi from 7 to 11. Following the Pahandi ritual, Chhera Pahanra (floor sweeping) will be performed on the chariot between 2.30 and 3.30 p.m. 

The Charamala Phita and other rituals will be completed by 4 p.m., after which the chariot pulling will begin.

Three deities will spend the night on the chariots where all the rituals will be performed after arriving at the 12th-century shrine. They will appear the next day in 'Sunabesha' (gold attire) for the devotees' darshan.

On July 1, the deities will enter Jagannath Temple in 'Niladri Bije' following the 'Aadhar Pana' (special drink) ritual.
