ASI request SJTA to open Puri Ratna Bhandar

Puri: The Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has received a letter from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) requesting that the Puri Srimandir's "Bhitara Ratna Bhandar" (inner treasury) be opened.

Sources claim that on August 8 the ASI Superintendent sent the letter to the SJTA Chief Administrator. The ASI stated in the letter that it desires to examine the treasury.

The state Law Department and ASI DG have also received a letter in this regard.

It is important to note that on April 4, following an order from the Orissa High Court on March 22, 2018, an attempt was made to open the inner chambers of "Ratna Bhandar." However, because the keys were gone, the "Ratna Bhandar" could not be opened. As a result, the crew performed an outside check and found that it was in poor shape.

Additionally, on July 6, Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb presided over a meeting of the Srimandir governing committee when he stated his desire for the "Ratna Bhandar" to be opened.
