Padampur NAC Tax Collector arrested for taking bribe

Bargarh: On Thursday, vigilance officials arrested a holding tax collector for a NAC in the district on bribe charges.
The Vigilance Department set up a trap after receiving a report that Dinabandhu Panda, the tax collector of Padampur NAC, was asking Rs 25,000 as a bribe for the transfer of holding number and reduction of annual holding tax in respect of a building purchased in the complainant's name.
According to the Vigilance plan, the complainant went to Panda's office to hand over the bribe money. The Vigilance sleuths apprehended the tax collector as he was accepting the money and collected the entire sum from his possession.
In this case, the Sambalpur Vigilance has opened a complaint, and additional investigation is underway.
As a result of the trap, the Vigilance has begun simultaneous searches on Panda's properties in two locations in Bargarh district.
