Another tourist commits suicide in Rayagada hotel

Rayagada: On Saturday, two days after a Russian national was discovered dead in a hotel here, his fellow tourist leaped from the third storey of the hotel where they were staying in Odisha's Rayagada.

Pavel Anthem has been identified as the deceased tourist. He was 65.

According to sources, Anthem tried suicide after attending the funeral of Vladimir Videnov, who, along with the former, three other Russians, and guide Jitendra Singh, checked into a hotel in Rayagada town on Wednesday after visiting Daringbadi in Kandhamal district but died the next day.

Anthem's guide called an ambulance and brought him to the hospital at the district headquarters. On arrival, however, he was proclaimed dead.

On Thursday, Vladimir was discovered unconscious in his hotel room on the first floor, surrounded by empty wine bottles. He was transported to the local hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead. The four-person Russian tourist party was scheduled to depart Rayagada for Jeypore in Koraput district on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the deaths of two Russian visitors in Rayagada town have been a subject of concern for the district administration.
