Bhubaneswar: In the capital of Odisha, Bhubaneswar, excise officers arrested one guy and confiscated brown sugar worth more than Rs 28 lakh.
According to sources on Sunday, the suspect, who was detained during an operation on Saturday, has been named as Tuna Nayak.
A team of excise authorities conducted out a raid at a location in the city's Kedarpali slum neighbourhood after receiving information about the smuggling of brown sugar. They discovered the contraband, which was hidden in more than 1000 packets.
Police detained the suspect after discovering him in possession of the illegal substance, which was brown sugar with an estimated worth of Rs 28 lakh.
According to reports, a case has been filed and an investigation has been started to determine the precise structure and nature of the smuggling network and to discover further participants.
