Khurda: In the Khurda area of Odisha, the Special Task Force (STF), Bhubaneswar, has detained one person and recovered more than one kilogramme of brown sugar.

The STF team conducted a raid at the Havelipadia under Khurda Town police station on Friday in accordance with intelligence. They captured narcotics dealer Sidhartha Nayak of Kamanabar Harijan Sahi during the raid.

He was found to be in possession of 1.15 kg of brown sugar, a KTM Power M/C, and other incriminating items, which were all seized. Nayak was detained and sent before the court of Additional District and Sessions-cum-Special Judge, Khurda, as a result of his inability to produce legitimate paperwork to support his possession of the contraband.

In this regard, the STF has filed a case under the NDPS Act of 1985, and additional investigation is ongoing.

Since 2020, the Special Task Force on Narcotics (STF) has arrested more than 160 drug dealers and peddlers while seizing more than 59 kg of brown sugar, 202 grammes of cocaine, more than 111 quintals of ganja, and 750 grammes of opium.
