CM Naveen to meet President-elect Droupadi Murmu today
Bhubaneswar: On Sunday at 5.30 p.m., Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will meet with President-Elect Droupadi Murmu and all of the BJD MPs. Patnaik arrived in New Delhi on Saturday for a four-day visit.
Naveen will also be present for Murmu's oath-taking, which will take place on Monday at 10.15 a.m. in Parliament's main hall.
She will take the oath of office as president, according to the Home Ministry, from Chief Justice of India N V Ramana. Then there will be a 21-gun salute. The President will then give a speech after that.
After handily defeating opposition presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha on Thursday, Murmu, 64, wrote history. She received 6,76,803 votes compared to 3,80,177 for Sinha.
She is the first tribal President of India, the first to be born after independence, and the youngest person to hold the top constitutional position. She is a native of the Mayurbhanj district of the state of Odisha. Additionally, she is the second woman born in Odisha to hold the office of President.
