Cops arrest thief involved in 18 burglaries

Nagpur: Prashant Kumar Karad of Odisha, who was arrested last week for his suspected participation in over 16 burglaries and thefts in the city, was found with 951 gramme (81 tola) of gold worth roughly Rs 38.12 lakh.

While stealing from a residence in Trimurti Nagar, he was apprehended.

Shrikant Sethi, his accomplice who was assisting him in disposing of the goods, was apprehended in Odisha after detectives tracked his location using mobile phone network towers, according to media.

Karad acknowledged to perpetrating roughly seven thefts in Trimurti Nagar, Jaripatka, Beltarodi, and other locations, according to police. He'd give over the stolen gold to Sethi, who would sell it for a low price to bullion brokers in and around Odisha.

Karad and Sethi have been apprehended by the police.
