The temple's security procedures and COVID safety protocols were also inspected by the DGP.
Bansal remarked after his visit, "I asked for Lord Jagannath's blessings for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Odisha."
"The state government is stressing the use of technology to check crime, and the police are going to expand the use of technology for the same," the DGP said of policing.
Puri Jagannath Temple was closed on December 31, January 1 and 2, in anticipation of a probable crowd surge.
On January 3, it reopened its doors to all worshippers following a three-day closure. On all days except Sundays, devotees can access the temple for darshan from 5:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the district and police administrations have made great preparations to ensure that visitors adhere to COVID standards.
