Dhanu Yatra preparations in full swing at Bargarh
Bargarh: Preparations for the world's largest open-air theatre, Dhanu Jatra, are well underway in Bargarh. During the 11-day celebration, the entire town is being painted to make it look colorful.
A Raj Darbar (royal court) for King Kansa is also being built. A Rangamahal has also been built in which the actors will amuse the audience with their performances.
During the 11-day celebration, Bargarh town changes into Mathura. The river Jeera becomes the Yamuna, and Amrapali, on the fringes of Bargarh, becomes Gopapura.
For 11 days, the entire town of Bargarh will be transformed into a play stage, and Kansa will rule the town while local citizens serve as his subjects. Kansa, the main character in Dhanu Yatra, will hold his Raj Durbar for seven days.
'Krishna Leela and Mathura Vijay' is the fundamental topic of the Dhanu Yatra. The celebration begins with the reenactment of King Kansa's sister Devaki's wedding to Basudev and concludes with 'Kansa Badha' at the hands of his nephew Lord Krishna on the final day.
The festival will feature performances by artists from 130 cultural troupes from across the country. To make the occasion more enticing and exciting, Bargarh town is being decked out with lights and colorful gates.
On December 27, the 'Dhanu Jatra' will begin.
