Fake Drugs Worth Rs 1.70 Lakh Seized From Jharsuguda & Bargarh

Bhubaneswar: Drugs worth Rs 1.70 lakh were seized from two agencies in Odisha's Jharsuguda and Bargarh districts after the companies confessed that they did not manufacture the medicines.

The phony pharmaceuticals were seized from Amit Medical Agencies in Jharsuguda and Vikash & Co in Bargarh, according to official sources on Tuesday.

The medicines were supplied by three firms in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, according to the enforcement officials. The credentials provided by the Uttar Pradesh government revealed that these units' drug licenses had been revoked.

According to sources, further investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against the organizations distributing the counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

On November 22, 11 bogus medications worth Rs 23, 22, 948 were confiscated from MH Pharmaceuticals at Nayasarak under Purighat police in Cuttack limits.

The drugs enforcement team also confiscated several counterfeit drugs from the Ashok Medical Store in Bargarh, western Odisha. The store owner obtained the drugs from three pharmaceutical companies in Uttar Pradesh.
