Jajpur: On Monday morning, a cargo train derailed and slammed into the passenger waiting area at Korei railway station in Odisha's Jajpur district, killing two people.
According to sources, eight cargo train carriages from Dongoaposi to Chhatrapur overturned after colliding with the waiting hall and a foot overbridge.
"A freight train derailed at 6.44 a.m. at Korei station in the Bhadrak-Kapilas Road Railway Section of the East Coast Railway's Khurda Road Railway Division." There have been two verified deaths. Many more people are likely to have been hurt. Both lines are obstructed. Train services along this line may be impacted in some ways. "Some trains may be controlled en route," East Coast Railway stated (ECoR).
According to sources, the railway station structure has also been destroyed, and numerous individuals are believed to be trapped beneath the bogies and rubbles on the platform.
"Upon receiving the information, local firefighters, top police and railway authorities, and the ODRAF team arrived on the scene and began a rescue effort." The critically injured are being sent to the Community Health Centre (CHC) for prompt medical attention.
