Keonjhar: An unknown vehicle crushed a home guard to death in the Ghasipura area of Odisha's Keonjhar district.
Suresh Kumar Rout (47) of Tarimula village was identified as the deceased. He was assigned to the Ghasipura police station.
According to sources, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday near Deogaon Chowk, under the jurisdiction of Ghasipura police station, while the home guard was patrolling.
While it is suspected that he was run over by an iron ore-laden truck while attempting to stop it, the exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
Following the accident, the vehicle sped away, and efforts are underway to locate the truck and its driver. An investigation is underway.
A police team arrived on the scene and recovered the mutilated body of the home guard, which was taken to the Anandapur sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.
Ghasipura police have launched an investigation into the incident, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the driver of the vehicle, according to sources.
