Bhubaneswar: Days after Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was assassinated by an assistant sub-inspector of police, Opposition Leader Jaynarayan Mishra said on Friday that he had given up his personal security officer (PSO) because he no longer trusted Odisha Police.

This came a day after he requested central security for Gopal Das, who allegedly shot the minister five days ago, resulting in his death, while referring to the mysterious death in jail of the main accused in the Mamita Meher case, Gobinda Sahu.

Speaking to the media here, Jaynarayan also demanded Das's EGC report from the district headquarters hospital in Jharsuguda, as well as the referral certificate and a report from the Airports Authority of India on his condition while being airlifted to Bhubaneswar. "It was weird to see Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with folded hands as he was being taken into the Apollo Hospitals here. At the hospital, a deceased person was operated on. All of these angles must be investigated. "Because the state government is attempting to conceal these facts, the case should be turned over to the CBI," he said.

The LoP had previously stated that the health minister died on the spot after being shot at by the ASI, and that a drama was staged throughout the day to deceive the people of the state.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch, which is investigating the shooting incident, conducted an investigation at accused Gopal's rented house in Brajarajnagar. A team is also questioning two bus employees who used to deliver medicines to Gopal at Berhampur bus stand after his wife claimed that medicines were being sent because her husband had a mental illness. One of his friends is being questioned as well.
