Man pours sanitizer, sets wife afire in Ganjam

Berhampur: An Odisha woman who was allegedly set on fire by her husband on Thursday night in the Ganjam district of Odisha's Mahuda village is fighting for her life with 30% burns.
Sources said that the accused, Sanjay Pradhan, doused his wife Rita Pradhan (25), in sanitizer before setting her afire for refusing to pay the dowry.
In an effort to save herself, Rita doused herself in water and hastened to a neighbouring relative's home. She was transported in a critical condition to MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur.
Sanjay and Rita were married four years ago. During the wedding, her family reportedly handed Rs 1.70 lakh as dowry. Her in-laws allegedly demanded additional money later.
The two families attempted to settle the dispute after her family filed a complaint with the Berhampur Mahila police station, but were unsuccessful.
