Bhubaneswar: The election for Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will be place on June 13, according to State Secretariat sources.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the position is June 10.
Bikram Keshari Arukha, who was fired from the cabinet by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, is expected to become Speaker of the Assembly. It's unclear whether Bikram Arukh will be elected Speaker without opposition. Though the BJD has 112 members in the Assembly, it remains to be seen if the ruling party can come to an agreement on his name.
