Cyber fraudsters dupe Odisha man of Rs 72.6 lakh
Bhubaneswar: A senior executive of a private company in Odisha's Paradip lost Rs 72.6 lakh to the allure of high returns in commodity trading.
On Tuesday, the 53-year-old filed a complaint with the Crime Branch's cyber police station in this regard.
According to the complainant, on March 22, a lady identified herself as Rika Lim from Kuala Lumpur contacted him over WhatsApp and convinced him to invest in commodity trading. Following that, he signed up for the trading website recommended by the woman and made Rs 950 on a Rs 25,000 investment. Between March 31 and May 23, he invested Rs 72.6 lakh, but made no profit. When he demanded a refund, the woman allegedly changed her phone number and became silent.
