Odisha CM condoles train mishap deaths, announces Rs 2L ex-gratia
Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik offered an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of those killed in the freight train tragedy in Odisha's Jajpur district.
While expressing his heartfelt condolences for the loss of life in the train disaster at Korei station, Naveen instructed the government to accelerate the rescue effort and provide proper treatment for the injured.
Notably, two people were killed when a cargo train derailed and collided into the passenger waiting area at Korei station. According to sources, the train station building has also been damaged, and several individuals are suspected of being trapped beneath the bogies.
The CM has also directed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramilla Mallick to visit the site and assess the situation.
