Odisha Govt presents supplementary budget of ₹16,800 crore

Bhubaneswar: On the first day of the winter session, the Odisha government presented the first supplementary budget of the current fiscal year before the Assembly, totaling Rs 16,800 crore.

On behalf of Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, Panchayat Raj Minister Pradip Amat delivered the supplementary statement of expenditure for 2022-23.

The House was postponed till Friday after the extra budget was tabled amid anger in the Assembly.

Keeping in mind the people's needs and expectations, the supplementary budget aims to meet the state's need for finances for public welfare and development operations.

A total of Rs 172 crore has been set aside for women's empowerment and child development.

Furthermore, Rs 552 crore has been set aside for rural housing, wage employment, drinking water supply, and rural infrastructure.

Energy, information technology, commerce, transportation, and research and development have each been granted Rs 388 crore. Rs 49 crore is supplied to OSRTC as financial support, while Rs 188 crore is provided for the construction of bus terminals and related infrastructure.

A total of Rs 128 crore has been set aside for the promotion of culture and tourism. This includes Rs 99 crore for tourist information and publicity and Rs 25 crore for the Directorate of Culture.
