Pari Murder Case: Accused Gets 10-Day Interim Bail
Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has granted accused Saroj Sethy interim release for 10 days in the sensational Pari murder case that sparked a countrywide controversy over two years ago.
The accused had petitioned the court for interim bail, claiming health concerns.
The accused will be subjected to a medical examination throughout the interim bail period, as ordered by the court. He has also been requested to come before the police at a nearby police station if necessary; he will not be permitted to meet with anyone connected to the investigation; and he will surrender to the court when his 10-day interim bail expires.
Sethy, a resident of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, is suspected of killing a 5-year-old local girl in July 2020 after attempting to rape her at his home.
The accused allegedly admitted to strangling the girl to death after failing to rape her at his house on July 14, 2020.
According to accounts, while the accused was alone at his house, he took the little girl to a room and attempted to sexually abuse her. He allegedly killed him and left his body near a pond when the minor daughter struggled and screamed.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) that investigated the event discovered that the accused had placed the body into a gunny bag and discarded it in a thicket near a pond in the village, covering it with coconut tree branches, they claimed.
