Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, acclaimed writer Ramachandra Behera was awarded the Atibadi Jagannath Das Puraskar-2020.

At a celebration at the Sanskriti Bhawan conference hall here, Tourism and Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi awarded Behera with a citation, Rs 5 lakh in cash, a shawl, and a souvenir.

Odisha Sahitya Akademi bestows the Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman on Odia language litterateurs for their lifetime contributions to Odia literature. This is the organization's highest honour bestowed upon any litterateur.

The Akademi also honoured 15 senior poets from the state, awarding them Rs 1 lakh in cash, a shawl, and a memento.
