Balasore: On Wednesday, the Pralay surface-to-surface guided ballistic missile was successfully test-fired off the coast of Odisha.

According to DRDO authorities, the missile, which was launched from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island about 10.30 a.m., met all of the mission objectives.

The new missile followed the planned quasi-ballistic trajectory and hit the target with excellent precision, demonstrating that the control, guidance, and mission algorithms were correct. All of the sub-systems operated admirably. According to the sources, sensors positioned near the impact point along the eastern shore, including downrange ships, tracked the missile trajectory and recorded all of the events.

Pralay is a 350-500 km short-range solid-fuel combat missile with a payload capacity of 500-1,000 kg developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation. It is based on the Indian ballistic missile program's Prithvi Defence Vehicle.
