Tehsildar Grabs Lands Of Dead Persons By Forging Documents In Odisha
Balangir: The tehsildar of the Balangir district in Odisha has been arrested on suspicion of forging paperwork to obtain land belonging to deceased people.
The tehsildar of the Balangir district, Maghaban Bag, and eight other people, including middlemen and junior employees, have been arrested.
The digital signatures of Bag are purportedly included on the fake land documents. According to allegations, forged Records of Rights (pattas) have also been created for the seized estates.
In one instance, it was claimed that a plot of land belonging to a long-deceased man named Harsha Sandha was fraudulently sold to a purchaser by the name of Labani Prusty after his passing. The 1.5 acre parcel of property is situated behind Adarsh Vidyalaya in the district's Sadar police jurisdiction's Dhumamara mouza.
By swapping out Sandha's photo for that of another old person, the sale deed is said to have been carried out using Sandha's identity card. On the sale deed, which was registered on March 3, 2021, Bag allegedly substituted a bogus thumb impression for the seller's signature. Recently, when Sandha's son discovered the deception, he filed a FIR.
"A probe into the suspected land swindle has already been started. After the investigation is finished, I will be able to remark on the matter, the Balangir district Collector Chanchal Rana informed media.
"I have no unfair connections to the purported land swindle in any way. Bag informed media, "I recently wrote to the concerned Revenue Inspectors (RIs) demanding their clarifications on it.
