Tusker Electrocuted To Death In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Angul: The body of another tusker was discovered near a village in the Angul district of Odisha on Saturday, one day after an elephant was discovered dead in the Dhenkanal district of same state.

The adult elephant was reportedly discovered by residents early one morning close to Mundapada hamlet in the district's Athmallik forest division and reported to the forest officials.

After being notified, a group of government representatives from the Athmallik forest division went to the location and started an inquiry.

According to preliminary investigations, the tusker perished after coming into touch with live electrical wire that some poachers had used to hunt animals. To find the perpetrators of the incident, efforts are still being made.

A tusker was discovered dead on Friday in a forest close to the village of Rankia in the Jiral Forest Section of the Bhuban Forest Range in the Dhenkanal district. Electric lines were seen strewn across the ground, and the elephant was bleeding from its trunk.
