Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted on Thursday about his phone call with BJP national president JP Nanda as NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu had a resounding send-off as she departed for Delhi.

Tukuni Sahu and Jagannath Saraka, cabinet ministers, also departed for Delhi this morning. The CM stated that they will both sign Murmu's candidacy papers and be there when the nomination is filed.

Murmu will submit her nomination papers on Friday, according to the tweet, which also confirmed that.

The BJD is the first non-NDA party to officially endorse Murmu for the highest position in the constitution. Beyond party lines, the CM has urged all of the state's MLAs to support the "Daughter of Odisha."

Murmu very certainly will receive the 50% of first preference votes needed in the electoral college to win the next President's office thanks to the BJD's support for her. Approximately 48% of the votes go to the NDA, while 2.85% go to the BJD.

When elected, Murmu, who already enjoys the distinction of being the first female governor of Jharkhand, will also make history by becoming the first tribal person of Odia descent to hold the office of president. She is a member of the Myurbhanj district of Odisha's Santhal caste.

On July 18, the 16th presidential election will be held, and on July 21, the results will be tallied.
