Angul: On Saturday, a woman's mutilated body was discovered on a railroad track in the Angul district of Odisha.
The woman may have committed suicide, but the authorities are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy near the Boinda train station, according to sources.
Gitanjali Kandhia, a resident of Boinda's Kushabania slum neighbourhood, has been identified as the woman.
On Friday night, Gitanjali left her home but did not come back. The family members conducted a search but were unable to find her. On Saturday morning, a few locals discovered a dismembered body on the railroad track and called the police.
Police arrived on the scene quickly, found the woman's body, and identified her. An investigation is being conducted to determine the precise cause of the woman's demise.
